Compost doesn't have to be so sticky and messy. We used to do that and nobody wanted to even look at it or add to the pile because it was so gross! Now, we just go around our place collecting in a cart all the dry leaves, since it's winter, and disposed hay. The more variety of greens or dried greens in the pile the better.
1. First we make the pile by dumping the leaves and hay. The pile needs to be higher than 3 feet and no more than 4 feet; and about 3-4 feet by 3-4 feet around.
2. Next, we pour water to keep it moistened.
3. Then we turn it every day or so and moistened it. The more you turn it the faster it will decompose.
Yeah! No more maggots.
